Surname history research, not personal genealogy.
1. What Ancesta provides
Ancesta researches the documented history of a family surname and delivers the findings as an interactive report, a downloadable PDF and shareable graphics. Surname history research, not personal genealogy.
2. Nature of the research
Reports are compiled from published records, reference works and scholarship about surnames, assembled with the assistance of AI systems and validated against sources. Findings describe the name, not any individual. Nothing in a report establishes descent, kinship, nationality, ethnicity, heritage entitlement or legal identity, and reports must not be used as evidence for citizenship, inheritance, immigration or any other legal or official purpose.
3. Confidence and gaps
Claims are labelled confident, probable or contested according to the strength of their sources. Where the record does not support a finding, the report says so. Ancesta does not warrant that any report is complete, and the presence of a gap is an accurate outcome of the research rather than a failure of delivery.
4. Payment
Reports are sold as a one-time purchase per surname, priced in US dollars and processed by Stripe. A separate surname, including a variant spelling you ask to be treated separately, is a separate purchase.
5. Your use of a report
You may read, print, and share your report and its exported graphics, including publicly. You may not resell reports, present them as your own research product, or strip Ancesta attribution from exported graphics.
6. Our content
The report design, typography, plate layouts, marks and software remain the property of Ancesta.
7. Limitation of liability
Reports are supplied for personal interest and education. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ancesta is not liable for decisions taken on the basis of a report, and any liability is limited to the amount you paid for the report in question.
